The new harvest of extra virgin organic olive oil is ready and stored safely in the Valencano cellar – climate-controlled and protected with nitrogen gas.

Due to this year’s yield, we are once again offering a blend for the 25/26 season, with a strong Leccino note.

Buža, Istarska Bjelica, and the blend offer a good differentiation in taste.

The results of the laboratory analyses: As before, Valencano olive oils fall well below the legal limits, particularly in terms of acidity and peroxide values. The polyphenol content of Bjelica has increased significantly compared to 2024 and, at 605 mg/kg oil, has reached our previous peak value. Buža and Blend remain stable at very good values of just over 400 mg.

The legal basis for sensory evaluation is the assessment of fruity, bitter, and spicy or pungent flavors. Bjelica and Buža have now both been classified as “intensely green” in terms of fruitiness. Buža is the mildest this year, with the least pungency and bitterness.

In the final overall assessment of smell and taste, the tasting panel from the Institute of Agriculture and Tourism awarded Bjelica 93 out of 100 points, Buža 92 points, and Blend 91 points—for the first time, all three varieties scored in the 90s.

Olive oil was already known as a natural cosmetic by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. It can be used as a natural cosmetic without any additives—but this only applies to high-quality, extra virgin oils.

In addition to our pure organic extra virgin olive oil, we now offer a small range of natural cosmetics, known as macerates – an oily extract from plants based on Valencano Bjelica oil.

St. John’s wort oil: helps with muscle pain, minor burns, infected wounds, ulcers, and neuralgia, among other things.

Lavender oil: helps with coughs, headaches, sleep disorders, and more… and of course, it also smells wonderful.

Rosemary oil: helps with muscle tension and soreness, rheumatic or nerve pain, skin problems, among other things

We were inspired to make our award-winning organic extra virgin olive oil even more special, and came up with the idea of offering VALENCANO olive oil in artistically decorated ceramic bottles.
Ervin Crnalić, a gallery owner from Pula who also sells our olive oil, helped us find a suitable artist. He introduced us to the artist Marina Barbančić, with whom we immediately felt a friendly connection. Marina now paints ceramic bottles for us—each one is unique.

With the start of deliveries of olive oil from the new 2024 harvest, we have completed the transition to the new label design. This was necessary in particular due to the product information on the back of the label now being bilingual.
We are also now using a new, higher-quality cap, which not only looks shiny but should also eliminate the problems that sometimes occurred when pouring.
